A LESS CONVENTIONAL HOLIDAY BIKE EXPERIENCE
When the holiday season approaches, all cycling lovers hope to be able to go on a bike ride, along routes characterised by a multitude of landscapes and more or less steep roads, which can represent authentic challenges. That is why we have prepared our Top 5 places for cyclists. These are places that you will surely find interesting, both for the nature that surrounds them and for the popularity of the routes they offer, both in the mountains and along the coast.
1: PALMA DE MALLORCA
Our first recommendation is to go to the Balearic Islands and, more specifically, Palma de Mallorca. Palma is very popular because here you can find all kinds of routes: plains, hills, long and complex slopes... always surrounded by breathtaking nature. During almost the entire year, the island offers cyclists the ideal roads and conditions to practice this sport or even just to have fun. In recent years it has become a meeting point for many professionals, but also for beginners and amateurs who want to improve their performance. If you visit the island and are looking for a truly unique challenge, we recommend the Sierra de la Tramuntana, the climb that leads to the Figureal in Puig Major (Sóller), or the route that leads to Grácia in Llucmajor. However, if you are looking for something easier and more pleasant, we recommend the stretch that connects Palma to Llucmajor.
2: ALGARVE
The Tour of the Algarve, whose official name is “Volta ao Algarve”, is a stage cycling race that takes place in the Algarve area of Portugal in the months of February and March. The race is held every year and attracts thousands of tourists, amateurs and professionals. The entire southern area of Portugal is ideal for cycling: it offers flat roads that pass through towns and cities, always immersed in the magnificent landscapes of the Algarve. This is a race that, without a doubt, requires teamwork and an atmosphere of healthy competition between participants.
3: GRAN CANARIA
Its strategic location and fantastic climate have made Gran Canaria an obligatory stopover and stopover in the Atlantic Ocean. Although the island's roads cannot be compared to the kilometer-long ones on the peninsula, Gran Canaria has an infinite number of routes where lovers of cycle tourism and nature can have fun. Whether for downhill or long distances, here you will find perfect areas between mountains and coast, surrounded by unique and unforgettable environments.
4: MIAMI BEACH
Miami Beach may not be an internationally known place for cycling, but it is certainly one of our favorites. Getting around by bike makes a tourist feel less of a tourist. If you are in Miami, renting a bike is undoubtedly a perfect way to discover the area, save time and money and stay fit while enjoying your vacation. The coast of Miami, full of palm trees, beaches, gardens, Art Deco buildings, skyscrapers, shops and international restaurants, will surprise you from the moment you arrive. What will most attract your attention, however, will be the cheerfulness and vitality of the people you will meet on the streets, and for this reason we think that a bike ride is ideal to get to know this splendid location in depth.
5: BERLIN
Finally, we cannot forget the magnificent capital of Germany, Berlin. The most comfortable way to get around Berlin is undoubtedly the bicycle. The city has about 900 km of cycle paths, which make it very easy to reach even the most remote tourist attraction. You will find routes lasting between 30 minutes and 3 hours: depending on the time you have available, you can choose the ones that appeal to you the most and you will live a unique experience in any case. Visiting a city has never been so much fun!
